Local or online accounts?
When setting up a new computer, you may be given a choice between using a local account or an online account, such as a Microsoft or Apple account.
For most regular users, RD3 Tech prefers setting up a local account for the computer itself where practical.
A local account keeps the computer’s day-to-day sign-in separate from your online services. This can make the computer simpler to manage and avoids unnecessarily tying the computer’s main login to an online account.
An online account can still be useful where you need services such as cloud storage, email, synchronisation, app stores or other features provided by Microsoft, Apple or another service.
