From Computer Repairs to Better IT: Why I’m Changing How RD3 Tech Works

From Fixing Problems to Finding Solutions

There’s nothing wrong with fixing a computer when something breaks. Sometimes that’s exactly what someone needs.

But I’ve found that there’s often a bigger question sitting behind the immediate problem:

Why did this happen in the first place, and what else could be improved?

Looking Beyond the Immediate Problem

If a computer keeps running out of storage, for example, replacing the hard drive might solve the immediate problem. But perhaps the bigger issue is how files are being stored.

If someone loses access to important files, restoring them from a backup is useful. But it also raises another question:

Was the backup system appropriate in the first place?

These are the kinds of questions I want to spend more time helping people answer.

A Different Direction for RD3 Tech

That’s the direction I’m taking RD3 Tech.

I’m still here to help when something goes wrong, but I want to spend more time helping people make better technology decisions before they become problems.

That might mean:

  • Reviewing an existing computer or technology setup
  • Improving backups and data protection
  • Looking at how a business manages email and online services
  • Planning for a new computer or other technology
  • Identifying problems that need attention before they become serious
  • Working out what needs to be done first when a technology setup has become complicated

And importantly, it doesn’t always mean buying something.

Sometimes the best solution is simply changing how something is configured, organised, or used.

You Don’t Need to Know the Answer

I also don’t think people should need to know exactly what technology they need before asking for help.

If you tell me what you’re trying to achieve, that’s a much better starting point.

From there, we can work out what technology, if any, is actually needed.

That’s the difference between selling a product and finding a solution.

Not Sure Where to Start?

If you know something isn’t working quite right but aren’t sure what the answer is, that’s okay.

You don’t need to have the technical knowledge or know exactly what to ask for. RD3 Tech can help you understand the problem, look at the bigger picture, and work out where to start.

Great News for Windows 10 Users!

Great News for Windows 10 Users!

Microsoft has officially extended Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) for consumers through 12 October 2027!

But what exactly is ESU?

Extended Security Updates (ESU) is a program that allows Windows 10 to continue receiving important security patches after its official end of support. These updates help protect your PC from newly discovered security threats and vulnerabilities.

What ESU includes:

  • ✅ Critical and important security updates.
  • ✅ Continued protection against new security risks.

What ESU does not include:

  • ❌ New Windows features.
  • ❌ General bug fixes or performance improvements.
  • ❌ Free technical support from Microsoft.

This is great news if:

  • 💻 Your PC isn’t compatible with Windows 11.
  • 💻 You’re not quite ready to replace your computer.
  • 💻 You need a little more time before upgrading.

While ESU helps keep your PC secure, it is only a temporary solution. Moving to Windows 11 or replacing older hardware remains the best long-term option.

Not sure what your computer supports?

RD3 Tech can help you:

  • 🔹 Check if your PC can run Windows 11.
  • 🔹 Upgrade your existing PC.
  • 🔹 Explain your ESU options.
  • 🔹 Recommend the most cost-effective path forward.
